Oh wait !!

What If We’re All Just Someone Else’s Experiment?

This has to be one of the craziest thoughts I’ve ever had.

Or…

Maybe someone wanted me to have this thought.

See?

We’re already in trouble.

Imagine…

The things we call aliens aren’t actually hiding from us.

They’re sitting comfortably on a planet thousands of light years away, sipping whatever aliens sip, staring at a giant computer screen.

And on one of those screens…

Is Earth.

I wake up.

Brush my teeth.

Go to work.

Forget why I walked into the kitchen.

Laugh at a meme.

Cry over a fictional character.

Overthink at two in the morning.

Go to sleep.

And somewhere…

An alien clicks,

“Day 9,453 complete.”

What if my entire life is just… someone’s experiment?

What if every decision I think I’m making has already been made?

Wait.

That means…

Someone told me to write this blog.

And someone told you to read it.

Now that’s either a brilliant conspiracy theory…

…or I seriously need to stop watching conspiracy theory videos before going to bed.

Lately I’ve been thinking way too much about aliens.

What do they look like?

Why don’t they visit us?

Or maybe they already have.

Maybe they looked at us, watched us argue over internet comments for ten minutes and quietly flew back home.

“Not yet.”

“They’re still evolving.”

But here’s the part that really messed with my head.

I came across something that said our brain sometimes starts preparing to do something before we consciously realise we’ve decided to do it.

Imagine that.

You’re sitting there thinking,

“I’m going to pick up my coffee now.”

And your brain quietly replies,

“Relax… I decided that a second ago.”

Excuse me?

Who’s in charge here?

Me?

Or my brain?

And if my brain can make decisions before I even know about them…

Then who’s making its decisions?

Now my overthinking has officially unlocked a new level.

Then I remembered another theory I’d heard years ago.

The Simulation Theory.

The idea is strangely simple.

If a civilisation became advanced enough, what’s stopping them from creating an entire simulated universe filled with conscious beings?

And if creating one simulation is possible…

Who’s to say they wouldn’t create millions?

Or billions?

Which then leads to an even stranger question.

How do we know we’re in the original one?

I know.

I know.

This is exactly why people shouldn’t let me think after midnight.

But imagine for a second.

Love.

Anger.

Jealousy.

Fear.

Joy.

What if they’re just… settings?

Someone increases one.

Lowers another.

Adds a little anxiety on a Monday morning.

A little hope on a Friday evening.

And off we go…

Living exactly as expected.

Or maybe there aren’t any aliens at all.

Maybe we’ve simply been trying to explain the same mystery in different ways.

Some call it destiny.

Some call it God.

Some call it free will.

Some call it probability.

Different words.

Same confusion.

The more I think about it…

The less certain I become that we’re as in control as we like to believe.

Of course, tomorrow morning I’ll still wake up, complain that I don’t want to go to work, make myself a cup of tea, and continue living as though every decision I make is entirely my own.

Because honestly…

What else am I supposed to do?

But every once in a while…

Usually at two in the morning…

A thought quietly sneaks into my head.

Did I really choose this thought…

Or was I always supposed to have it?

And if you’ve made it this far…

I have one last question.

Did you decide to read this blog…

Or did someone, somewhere…

Press Run?
