If the Universe Could Reply

If only the universe could talk.

Just once.

I don’t need all the answers.

Just enough to know that…

Everything is going to be okay.

I think I’d have so many questions.

The kind I’ve been carrying around for years.

Questions that quietly show up at midnight.

Questions that don’t have a Google search result.

Questions that even time hasn’t answered.

The first one would probably be…

“Do you remember what happened eight years ago?”

Why did that happen?

I didn’t think I deserved it.

I wasn’t trying to hurt anyone.

I was simply trying to live my life.

So why did it have to unfold that way?

Was I supposed to learn something?

Or was it just one of those things that happens because life doesn’t always make sense?

Then I’d ask…

How many times did you quietly protect me without me even realising it?

How many wrong turns did I never take because something didn’t work out?

How many people did you remove from my life because they were never meant to stay?

How many heartbreaks were actually redirections?

How many disappointments were silent blessings?

And how many closed doors did I spend years crying over…

When you were simply saving me from entering the wrong room?

The more I look back, the more I realise that the universe has been kinder to me than I often give it credit for.

There were situations I thought would destroy me.

Somehow…

I survived.

There were people I thought I’d never stop missing.

Today, I can’t even remember the last time I thought about them.

There were dreams that never came true.

Only because better ones quietly arrived later.

And then there were people.

Oh…

The people.

Some of them disappeared from my life so suddenly that even today I don’t know what happened.

Maybe the universe looked at my life, looked at theirs, and quietly whispered…

“This chapter is over.”

Honestly…

Sometimes it feels like the universe handed Thanos the Infinity Gauntlet and said,

“You know what to do.” 😂

One snap…

And somehow the wrong people vanished.

At that time, it hurt.

Today, it makes perfect sense.

Then I’d ask the universe something I’ve never really asked anyone.

Did I do enough?

Was I kind enough?

Did I leave people better than I found them?

Did I forgive when I should have?

Did I love wholeheartedly?

Did I become the person I was meant to become?

Or am I still somewhere in the middle of becoming?

I don’t want to be remembered only for the work I did.

Or the degrees I earned.

Or the books I wrote.

I hope that somewhere, somehow, I made someone’s day a little lighter.

I hope I made someone feel seen.

I hope I was kinder than I had to be.

Because if the universe really keeps count of anything…

I hope it counts kindness.

The funny thing is…

If the universe actually replied to every question I asked…

Would life still be exciting?

Maybe uncertainty is part of being human.

Maybe not knowing is what makes hope possible.

Maybe faith only exists because certainty doesn’t.

So perhaps the universe doesn’t stay silent because it has no answers.

Maybe it stays silent because some answers are meant to be lived before they’re understood.

And if I could ask for just one last thing…

I wouldn’t ask for success.

Or money.

Or even certainty.

I’d simply ask this.

Please…

Be kind.

To the person reading this.

To the soul carrying battles nobody knows about.

To the child who’s growing up too fast.

To the parent who’s trying their best.

To the friend who’s silently falling apart.

To every human being who is doing everything they can just to make it through another day.

And if you happen to be listening…

Be kind to me too. 🙂

I promise I’ll keep trying to be kind in return.
